Sizzix Ideas

horizontal rule

Here are some ideas of ways to use sizzix die cuts.

fig5.jpg (5807 bytes)

1)   Cut the legs off approximately half way, leaving a rounded end on them.  See fig 1.

2)   The bits that you have cut off can now be attached to the back of the legs at an angle.  Vary the angle you place them on to give the impression of someone kneeling - see fig 2 or someone jumping - see fig 3.

3)   If you want to go one step further, cut the arms off both the body and the t-shirt/dress.  Then stick the arms back on as in fig 4.

4)   Dress your body.  See fig 5.

fig7.jpg (5650 bytes)

1)   Take the girl hair and cut a section out of it and cut small inverted v's out to form a fringe - see fig 6.

2)   Fit the head through the section you cut and tape at the back to secure in place - see fig 7.

fig8.jpg (13540 bytes)

1)   Take the girl hair and lay it behind the head.  Then take the boy hair and place it over the front - see fig 8.

fig9.jpg (11752 bytes)

1)   Take the boy hair and fix to the front of the head.  Then take the pigtail girls hair and cut it in half.  Fix both pieces behind the head - see fig 9.

Alternatively, if you want the pigtails closer together and higher up, just fix the pigtail hair behind without cutting it - see fig 10.

fig11.jpg (8785 bytes)

1)   Take the boy hair and cut it across approximately in half.  Then cut 2 inverted v's into the bottom of it where you have just cut.

2)   Attach it to the head and then cut round the sides so that it fits against the side of the head - see fig 11.

fig15.jpg (10766 bytes)

1)   Cut the legs off and one of the arms - see fig 12. Or you can leave one of the legs in place, depending on what angle you want the legs at.

2)   Fix the legs back on at the angle you want - see fig 13.

3)  Take a dress or t-shirt and bend the sleeve forward, open it back up and place the arm you cut onto the sleeve - see fig 14.

4)   Fold the sleeve back over and fix it down with tape or glue.  Add the hair and any other decoration you want - see fig 15.

By altering the angle you place the legs you can give the impression of someone running - see fig 16.

Fig19.jpg (21994 bytes)

1)   Cut off the legs about 2/3rds of the way up, and then cut about another 1/3rd off of the legs - see fig 17.

2)   Attach your shorts, making sure that the legs are just covered, then attach the legs at an angle - see fig 18 which shows the back of the doll to show position.

3)   Fix 3 blocks in position and then sit your doll on the top - see fig 19.

Fig21.jpg (20097 bytes)

1)   From one block cut out sections a, b and c as shown in fig 20.

2)  Lay the cut out block over the top of another block, either a totally different colour or a contrasting colour.  Then you can add names, letters, dates etc - see fig 21.

Fig22.jpg (19314 bytes)

1)   For the hair I have used 2 of the big hair - laid one behind the head and then cut the 2nd one down to make the front of the hair.

2)  Add the dress, shoes, facial features and any other decoration you want.

3)   Take a piece of tulle approx 20cm x 15cm and thread a thin piece of craft wire through one long edge, weaving it in and out of the tulle.  Scrunch the tulle up into the middle of the wire and tape it to the back of the head.  Take several small beads and thread them onto one end of the wire, using enough beads so that they will cover the front of the hair.  Thread the other wire through the beads and both wires should be at the back of the head.  Twist/tie the wires and tape down the back.

4)   Spread the veil out at the back until you have the desired effect.  You can either leave the bottom of the veil straight or cut curves into it.  See fig 22.

Fig23.jpg (33077 bytes)

1)   For the groom I have used a t-shirt and a pair of dungarees.  Cut the dungarees off at just above waist level, so you have a pair of trousers.

2)   Take a t-shirt and cut an inverted v shape at the bottom, and draw 3 little buttons on it above the v you have cut.

3)  Take a white t-shirt and place behind your jacket that you have just made.

4)  Take a small piece of white paper and place behind the jacket & t-shirt, so that the white paper is showing at the curve for the neck only.  Then cut a line downwards in the paper and fold each piece forward so that you have a collar for your shirt.  You can then either cut your own bow tie or use a pre-cut one, or make a little tie.  If making a tie make sure you make it before sticking the white t-shirt and black t-shirt together.  I have used one of the gifts die cuts to make the top hat, just cutting a little section of each side of it, but you could easily make one free hand.  See fig 23.

Do you want a pearlescent die cut but don't want to pay the price of them?  Then turn any plain die cut into a pearlescent one with these easy steps.
